About us - Pastor Ryan

In the summer of 1998 it seemed that I was on my way to realizing my boyhood dream of playing Major League Baseball. I was pitching for a Texas Rangers Affiliate minor league team and was also nearing graduation from San Diego State University. I was pitching well and even found myself in the starting rotation at Class A Savannah Georgia in the South Atlantic League.

Even though I put up a convincing front, my life had something missing. You see, adult hood had become a severe disappointment. I just couldn't believe that the rest of my life could consist of getting up every morning, working, partying and then returning to bed. I remember thinking to myself, there has to be more.

Then one day, in an apartment that I shared with two other teammates I learned that I was right, there was more. One of my roommates told me that the "More" I was seeking was the God who created me. He shared with me that I could know God through Jesus Christ. So I asked him a question; how does a person become a Christian? He recited Romans 10:9, “That if you confess Jesus as Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved.”

Having a keen sense in my heart that I needed God in my life I quickly went into my bedroom, knelt beside my bed and confessed Jesus as Lord and believed in my heart that God raised Him from the dead. I immediately knew something had changed!

A few days later I was given a Bible by our team chaplain and proceeded to make a public profession of faith in Jesus Christ on a Sunday morning during Baseball chapel in the dugout of our home stadium. I began reading the New Testament at a vigorous pace. I had never read so much truth in my life. God was literally teaching me why He created me and more importantly that He loved me, even when I thought no one else did. I soon found myself reading God's Word to all hours of the night.

Since that time in Savannah, GA I continue to read God's Word and give Him praise for saving my life from the penalty of sin. And now, everyday is an expression of Joy in the goodness, grace and mercy of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I currently live in Bowling Green, KY with my wife Shauna, son Jacob Ryan and daughter Austyn Marie.
